Adele, Justin Bieber y Lang Lang.
Lowery:
It happens
to be that cheap rhetoric of this (Mexico) Presidential elections is not an
endemic evil, it has been there since earlier times in the organizations that control
power (and money). In the cultural-musical sphere, yesterday, Emily White was
answered in a large letter by David Lowery on The Trichordist blog, because she
accepted that only has bought 15 CD’s of 11,000 songs those she posses in her
music library.
Mr. Lowery
says that we do not support the artists if we don’t pay for hearing their
music. Even though this seems to have lots of logic, his argument pointing that
through record sales is the better way to support an artist and cover expenses,
is a fallacy. The record industry generally has 10-90 deals, all inclusive:
promotions, tours, ads, press. Even though with only $18 USD onee can buy
records, the real cost of it is only $0.7 USD. Nevertheless, it was so long ago
that a good record was made.
If he keeps
crying for his friends that took their lives, why do you not complain with the
record companies that contracted them and obligate them to pay a medical
health insurance that includes mental and psychological treatment for the
artists?
Also Lowery
says that in old times tours and concerts were not for gaining money, they knew
that the inversion would not be back, holding that there is more revenue
through record sales, but also he goes backwards asking “Why do we value the
network and hardware that delivers music but not the music itself?” Mr. Lowery
the record is also a deliverer not the music itself.
Lets
support our artist paying them for their job, that says, attending the concert
hall, the arena, the salon, the fandango. The record is only convenient for the
record industry and Lady Gaga, Metallica, Adele, Justin Bieber and Lang Lang.
